People impact change for better or worse.

At the 44th FIPP World Media Congress in Cascais, Portugal, 7-9 June, the “human element in business” will never be far from conversation, but we have several sessions focused squarely on the topic, too. Below are three examples.

On the morning of 9 June, we have an extended session (“workshop”) with Katahdin Media Management’s John Wilpers and Peter Medwid, where they will discuss the people factor with a select group of attendees. Says John, “No matter where you are in the life cycle of your company, whether you’re a digitally savvy operation looking to launch a new initiative or a print-centric company looking to transform yourselves, you won’t succeed unless you have a culture that takes the human factor into account… [Join us as] we look at how different companies in many different countries and cultures have turned loss-making companies or departments with sullen staff into profitable, happy teams meeting and exceeding goals.”

In the afternoon, ahead of our final View from the Top panel discussion closing Congress 2022, Netflix’s Tanya Isler and former Condé Nast exec Angie Byun will discuss what modern media companies can do more to support underrepresented groups. They will explain how succeeding in this will create meaningful benefits for the whole organisation.

They are followed by Author, Speaker, and Futurist Chloe Combi, who will look at how different generations can get the best out of one another in the workplace, whatever the place of work demands in a post-lockdown world. Chloe will explain why a post-Covid world “has created a golden moment for maximizing productivity, harmony and meeting the needs of everyone – from the newest to the most experienced in the workplace.”
