We are pleased to announce our acquisition of What’s New in Publishing (WNIP), a media industry website and newsletter, to progress the development of its industry network and expand its digital business.

The acquisition will help Di5rupt accelerate plans to wrap a digital platform around its events and other initiatives to develop its offering to engage and provide services to its audience throughout the year.

Di5rupt is a UK-based global B2B media intelligence and connections network, producing Media Makers Meet (Mx3 Berlin) and the FIPP World Media Congress under license from FIPP – Connecting Global Media, a long-established industry association with original roots in the magazine sector. In addition to events, Di5rupt develops industry research reports and provides various content and commercial services as an agency of FIPP. It focuses predominantly on specialist and creator-led media verticals and media-tech businesses.

WNIP is a business offering news, interviews, and reports on the media industry, providing insights to its audience of media professionals worldwide. The acquisition of WNIP by Di5rupt will bring together two networks in the media industry, creating robust opportunities for knowledge sharing and developing connections for industry collaborations and partnerships.

“We are delighted to welcome WNIP to Di5rupt,” said Cobus Heyl, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of Di5rupt. “This acquisition and our already-existing partnership with FIPP reflect our commitment to providing the media and media-tech industry with the best possible network, insights, services and connections. It creates a platform consisting of digital and in-person initiatives for our audience. We will share more about new initiatives in due course, but, in practice, our fully integrated Di5rupt/WNIP platform should launch in late summer.”

John Schlaefli, Chief Commercial Officer and Co-founder of Di5rupt, said: “By combining the strengths of Di5rupt and WNIP, along with the services FIPP offers its audience, we will be able to provide a comprehensive platform with multiple industry touch points throughout the year for our commercial partners to benefit from. It includes the development of our Mx3 Collectif community, our and FIPP’s websites and newsletters, our events and FIPP’s Insider events, and more. At Di5rupt, we believe media creators and media-tech developers have a role to play in developing a robust future for media. We are intent on playing a constructive role in making that happen. Contact me if you are interested in immediate opportunities available.”

According to Jeremy (Jez) Walters, the Editor in Chief of WNIP and now Di5rupt, “We are excited to join forces with Di5rupt and expand our reach in the media industry. Together, we can provide even more valuable insights and services to our audience, and we look forward to working together to achieve our shared goals.”

While work on integrating and launching new products and services commences immediately, Di5rupt’s (with its focus on the FIPP Congress in Cascais on 6-8 June) and WNIP’s websites and newsletters will continue to operate as separate entities for the time being.

The terms of the deal will remain undisclosed.
